I want to use WinHIIP because it's free and I'm a total cheap-ass. I can still connect to multiplayer games through the adaptor, though I still can't use the HD. I can hear the harddrive turn on when I turn on my PS2. However, the people who said it did work were using HDLoader or HDAdvance. According to the PS2 Hard Drive campatability chart () as long as you can get the hd to fit with the network adaptor (I had to mod my network adaptor slightly in order to do this) it can work with the PS2. I'm using a Western Digital (WD Caviar) 40GB (technically about 37.5GB) WD400BB enhanced IDE hard drive. I tried using the game, itself because It's HDD supportive. I also did NOT use WinHIIP to load the game image on the HD. I did NOT format the harddrive (through the PC) before running WinHIIP. I hooked it up to my PS2 as a master then as cable select but neither worked. I followed the program's instructions (selected the drive, erased it, then "PS2 Format"-ted it. I hooked the hardrive I wanted to mod up to my computer as a slave and ran WinHIIP (you can download it here: ). Press OK to all errors that pop up upon loading the drive.Īt this point you should be able to write to the drive with no problems.I am having a similar problem. Open WinHIIP and click Select Drive, then select your drive. Wait for the drive to finish formatting, then right click the healthy partition you just made and click Delete Volume. Proceed through the New Volume Wizard, setting the Volume size to the maximum disk space and formatting the drive under the NTFS file system. Right click the Unallocated Space on the disk and click New Simple Volume. Open Disk Management (to open type disk management in Windows search and hit enter)įind the reference to disk you want to fix and if it has not already been formatted follow these steps: To resolve this problem you will need to manipulate the drive in Windows “Disk Management”. The solution for anyone who has this issue in the future: Well, this took less time than I thought once I figured out the correct google search terms
